What Octolens is
Octolens is AI social listening built API-first: “one API for every mention across the internet”, covering 15-plus platforms — Reddit, LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, GitHub, YouTube, Hacker News, Stack Overflow, TikTok, podcasts, newsletters and a large slice of the news web. Mentions arrive as structured JSON over REST, webhooks and an MCP server on every plan, with AI relevance scoring, sentiment, summaries and drafted replies for human review. Customers it names are product-led companies like Vercel and PostHog.
Pricing is team-shaped: Pro at $199/month for 10 keywords and 15,000 mentions, Scale at $599/month for 40 keywords and 50,000 mentions, a custom Enterprise tier, and a 7-day trial. The unit it meters — mentions per month — tells you who it is for: companies whose problem is volume.
ReplyHey is the other end of the same street. One platform, no API quota, no keyword cap: paste your URL, and what arrives daily is not a mention stream but a shortlist — each thread scored against what you sell, the evidence quoted, the subreddit’s live rules checked, the reply drafted. It is built for the person who will actually type the answer, not the pipeline that stores it.
Where Octolens is better
- Breadth: fifteen-plus platforms in one feed, including Hacker News, GitHub and Stack Overflow. ReplyHey is Reddit only, on purpose.
- API-first is real here — structured JSON, webhooks and MCP on every plan. If mentions need to land in your own systems, this is the plumbing.
- Built for volume: 15,000–50,000 mentions a month is a scale ReplyHey does not pretend to address.
- Serious logos. Vercel and PostHog do not pick tools casually.

Whichever you pick: nothing should post to Reddit as you. That is the line the account bans are on.
ReplyHey vs Octolens: questions
Is ReplyHey an Octolens alternative?+
Only for the Reddit slice. If you are choosing between them, the real question is which product you were actually shopping for: a mentions API across the internet (Octolens) or a daily list of answerable Reddit threads with drafts attached (ReplyHey). Some companies genuinely need both, and they do not conflict.
Both have MCP — what is the difference?+
Octolens serves mentions to your agents and systems; ReplyHey answers “what are my leads today?” in Claude, Cursor or Codex with scored threads and drafts. Same protocol, different payload — theirs is a firehose fitting, ours is a to-do list.
I only care about Reddit. Is Octolens overkill?+
At $199/month for 10 keywords, probably — you would be paying for fourteen platforms you do not read. That is not a criticism of Octolens; it is a sign you are not its customer.
